Charter
The founders of the Source Tagging Council
(STC) are Acousto-Magnetic Electronic
Article Surveillance (EAS) technology
advocates. This common platform of retailers
and consumer goods manufacturers as trading
partners, combined with the usability
of the Acousto-Magnetic technology, with
its inherent features and benefits of
application and implementation, are significant
contributing factors to the current day
success of source tagging.
History
The STC began in 1996 as a forum where
retailers, manufacturers, and Value Added
Resellers (VARs) gathered together to
network, exchange ideas, discuss challenges
and solutions, focus on best practices
and promote EAS tagging at the source.
The participant base of
the STC has grown immensely and has taken
on global proportions, with annual meetings
in many countries and a network of participants
from around the world. Attendees include
solution providers, retailers and manufacturers
who have implemented source tagging or
are evaluating EAS and their source tagging
programs. Active participation is encouraged.
Everyone provides individual contributions
and collective synergy is responsible
for the continued success of global source
tagging programs.
Scope
The STC is directed toward North American
based companies with supply chain implications
both domestic and abroad. Europe, Asia
and Latin America also have their own
STC presence. The majority of focus is
based on solutions using Acousto-Magnetic
EAS technology; however all technology
users are welcome.
Goal
The goal of the STC is to propagate industry-wide
source tagging growth and momentum by
sharing best practices, case studies,
common opportunity, joint challenge resolution
and ideas of interest.
Objective The objective
of the STC is to focus attention on the
current state of source tagging and promote
new ideas throughout the supply chain
to improve the effectiveness of EAS source
tagging to increase sales for both manufacturers
and retailers by increasing the labor-efficient,
in-stock merchandising opportunity for
the honest customer.
